I am a resident in the redrow development, I am fortunate enough to have a house facing the market hall and I think it is a brilliant idea. However, I do have one major concern, Car parking!! This is already an issue on the site with not enough parking spaces for the residents. Will there be provisions in place for visitor and employee parking? How are you going to ensure residents are not going to be disadvantaged with regards to parking? I envisage this will become a major problem and will cause emense tensions between the Market Hall tenants and the residents living in the vicinity.
Kind regards
Darren Cox
Thank you for your comments regarding the Market Hall, we very much value your support and a good conversation about parking.
One of the main drivers for the Market Hall is to create positive social, economic and physical outcomes for the local area. The team of partners overseeing the development of the Market Hall are keenly aware of the importance of adequate parking for businesses and residents and have therefore very much taken a front–foot, proactive approach to pre-empting future challenges. As far back as 2013 we have been worked closely with Plymouth City Council to ensure sufficient provision is made that does not include the use of residents spaces. As a result there will be a mix of parking adjacent to the building on land that forms part of the Market Hall Site and the provision of new car park on the current area of the Redrow site offices. As is stand this has created an additional allocation of approximately 50 spaces. While this is good, we continue to have an eye for the future. If Devonport continues to grow and flourish over the next 3-5 years as it has been, pressure may grow on the current allocation. We are therefore currently working to ensure any future challenges are mitigated now.
If you’d like to keep in touch with developments we will be keeping the website updated with details of the project and any events/opportunities to learn more about the project, or you can sign up for the newsletter which will give updates on the project.
Thank you again for your thoughts and we hope this addresses your concerns.
